I was reminded of "What Time Is It There?" (a movie by Taiwanese director Tsai Ming-Liang). Instead of wearing two watches, my Baby G is at Singapore time (which is 1 hour ahead of Bangkok). I diligently take one hour off each time I read my watch. However when one gets tired, everything goes haywired.
I took a lift back (to my apartment) tonight and just like in Singapore, Bangkok is jammed on a Friday night. I was getting weary but since another colleague was on the car, I had to keep a conversation on going (I couldn't just doze off!).
When I reached the apartment, it was 8.30pm on my watch. Being semi-concussed, I thought it was 8.30pm in Bangkok (it was only 7.30pm actually). I was half wondering how a car ride could take so long (we left office at around 6.30pm and without traffic jam, the usual drive is about half an hour).
After my dinner at the apartment restaurant, I half intended to either go look for Dunkin Donuts or shop around. It was 9pm on my watch (actually only 8pm) so the interest level dipped to an all-time low. A check with the apartment staff confirmed that shops close the same time (10pm) on Fridays, so it was really pointless to go anywhere at 9pm.
Alas! I just realised my silly mistake. My happening Friday is wasted.
