I left my house at 6 plus, still feeling sleepy and was concerned about punctuality.
I drove faster as there was no traffic. When I reached a traffic junction, I stopped behind the red lights. There was a cab infront of Turtle. When the traffic lights turned green for the left-turn cars, the cab infront moved. Being semi-conscious, I followed suit.
My heart dropped when I realised my mistake. The traffic lights were still red for those straight-going cars. I could have killed myself (and perhaps, other unfortunate drivers).
I have managed to maintain a couple of accident-free years and before that, I had one serious car accident and many others whereby I rammed into stationary objects (walls, pillars, kerbs, cars). Time and again, I reminded myself to drive carefully.
Driving seemed surreal these days, ever since I was told of a car accident some days back. The driver suffered some light injury, his wife beside him had a miscarriage and one of the back passenger lost her limb.
I started to think about what happens if I get into a car accident again *touchwood*. The consolation is that I usually have no passengers, but then again, I don't even own Turtle.
This is my wake up call.
