Getais

JJ made a brilliant move by bring my parents and I to watch 881. It has been many years since we watched movies as a family.

I only remembered watching cartoons in my childhood (wrong! 'coz it was just my Dad, JJ and I. My Mum never joined us 'coz she had to run her business then) while JJ only remembered those crazy movies not meant for kids. We watched movies like "黑太阳731" and "火烧圆明园" which I only recalled when she mentioned. We both have selective memories of our childhood.

I felt a tug on my heartstrings when I saw scenes of getais. I spent my childhood playing around my Mum's shop and getais was an annual affair that I welcomed. They were a significant aspect of my childhood. I like the movie being in Hokkien (though I would prefer it to be in Teochew) and I love the element of fantasy in movies!

What moved me most was seeing many aunties, uncles, grandmas and grandpas in the cinema.
