My belief about work is never to take work as it comes to you. I always question the purpose, the process and the outcome, i.e. what is this done for, how do we go about doing it and how is it useful.

I supposed I am quite a nightmare when I refused to do work just because I was told to. The questionable part is that the requestor/dictator being just a colleague (who is not superior in the hierarchy) and not my boss.

Perhaps, they so preferred a docile colleague.
