Traceability only improves as we progress and not the other way round. Impetuous youngsters thought they could hide their identity (at internet), so they went round "saying" things without realising that they would still be held responsible for their words. When things get to the extreme (i.e. threats), they become crimes.
Anonymity gives people a sense of comfort, but its existence is highly doubtful. If people do want to give their two cents worth, wouldn't they sound more creditable when faces behind opinions are known?
The worst scenario is when anonymity is promised but subsequently, all words are traced to the "speaker". Why promise something you don't wish to grant?
