The only usefulness of online social network (i.e. Friendster, Facebook) is for me to uncover old friends.
Just yesterday, Jan and I were lamenting about not being able to reestablish lost contacts with some girls from our class. I particularly was trying to "hunt down" LX who was my primary 1 best friend (same class again in primary 4 to 6). I did my usual googling, saw some traces of her whereabouts but there was no contact details. I tried to ask JJ to help reestablish with LY (LX's older sister who was one of my sister's primary school best friend), and nothing progressed.
It seemed hopeless at that point in time. Not wanting to give up, I did one simple name search and I found her!
The happy news is that I have added her to my MSN and gotten her handphone number as well. The sad news (sad for me who doesn't foresee any relocation in near future) is that she is relocating to Korea for work soon.
The overall happy news is that at least, I found her before she leaves. Yeay!
The amount of endorphins during my conversation with her, was an overwhelming ecstasy. I must agree with Jan that with old friends, everything seemed so familiar and comfortable. Its easy to love them but for new friends, we often make judgements. As time passes, all new friends become old friends... bliss. (Disclaimer: Excluding those who somehow lost being termed as friends along the way. Not many, hopefully.)
